How we serve our members

Practical support for every stage of practice — from a first appearance to a thirty-year career on the bench and bar.

Membership

The value of belonging

Membership is how a profession keeps its standards, its collegiality, and its obligation to the public. It is also, plainly, the most useful thing most Riverbend attorneys do for their practice each year.

Annual dues from $95 for new admittees; law students join free.

  • Practice

CLE credit, practice-area committees, forms libraries, and fee dispute resolution.

  • Community

Section luncheons, bench-and-bar dialogue, and colleagues a phone call away.

  • Growth

Referrals, mentorship, leadership tracks, and a public directory listing.

For the Public

Our Mission

A century of service

Portrait of Katherine M. Whitfield, Executive Director of the Riverbend County Bar Association

Katherine M. Whitfield

Executive Director

The Riverbend County Bar Association exists to uphold the integrity of the legal profession, to support the attorneys who practice here, and to widen the public’s access to competent counsel. Founded in 1924 by twenty-eight practitioners, the Association has held to that charge for a hundred years.

Our work is carried out by more than thirty practice committees and an elected Board of Directors drawn from firms, government offices, and the judiciary. Members give thousands of pro bono hours each year through legal aid clinics, veterans’ advice nights, and a standing partnership with the county’s self-help center.

“A bar association is only as strong as the obligations its members are willing to keep to one another and to the public.”
